Peralta began competing professionally in age 15 with the Z Boys, an expert skateboarding group sponsored by the surf shop Jeff Ho Surfboards and Zephyr Productions. His other sponsor was Gordon and Smith. Also active in the film industry, Peralta is best known for his documentary movie Dogtown & Z-Boys, a picture about his time in the Z Boys age. His other works included the infamous Whopper Virgins Burger King advertising campaign. Recently, Peralta made a documentary about the LA street gangs, the Crips and Bloods. Stacey Peralta is widely recognized on earth of skateboarding along with his invention of the “frontside lip to fakie,” a play in skateboarding that includes the rim of the bowls located at skate parks. As a professional skateboarder, he also established a skate gear manufacturing company with businessman George Powell, that they called it Powell-Peralta.
