Jake Shields is an American professional mixed martial artist who has an estimated net worth of $1.3 million. Jake Shields began amateur wrestling at age 9. In the beginning of his early career as a wrestler, he competed in over 601 matches for people, freestyle and entry bouts. Jake was a four-year varsity wrestler for Calaveras High School and placed 2nd during the Amateur Athletic Union National Freestyle Championships. In 1999, he began his MMA training under Chuck Liddell’s SLO Kickboxing Academy. He was a three-time Grapplers Quest Improvement Champ, Pan American Championships Jiu Jitsu Champion, Pan Am Open Improvement Entry Champ, and Gracie Open Super-fight Champion. In 2005, Shields completed 3rd place throughout the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship. Shields participated in several fights and won the Middleweight Championship at Strike force. He made his debut at UFC in a match against Martin Kampmann in UFC 121. He fought several combatants such as Hector Lombardi, Demian Maia, and Ed Herman, among others. On April 6, 2014, he was released from the promotion. He signed a multi-fight deal with World Series of Fighting.
