He wanted a solo career, and so he left the band Deep Purple in 1976. Coverdale has been actively connected to the music industry since 1973. Hard rock, blues rock, heavy metal, and Glam metal are his genres.

As a solo singer, Coverdale’s first music album was titled “Whitesnake”. His 2nd album “Northwinds” received better reply. Inspired by the name of his first album, Coverdale formed a band that was called Whitesnake after his 2nd album premiered. Initially the band didn’t do that well. However using the release of Coverdale’s 1987 album, Whitesnake became a huge hit. The album sold 8 times platinum since its release.
